 A. Burrell & Sons. Regd in England No 201317 | Established 1902

The project at Sutton Grange Farm near Retford involved the transformation of ex quarry land into a 3 MW anaerobic digestion plant. It is currently the largest farm AD plant in the country and has recently been awarded UK AD Biogas Industry Award for the best AD on farm project 2014.

Burrell Construction were the principle contractor on site managing in excess of 120 people on site at any given time. We were responsible for the master programme and undertook the role of civil works contractor on a design and build basis.

The project involved carrying out ground stabilisation works using controlled modulus columns (CMC) with traditional foundations. Construction of steel portal framed buildings with cladding and drainage which had to meet exact environmental regulations due to the nature of the project. Concrete road, maize clamp, offices and laboratories were constructed and fitted out.

The project was challenging and constantly evolving with valuable experience gained. The duration of the contract period was 70 weeks and was completed on time to an exceptionally high standard.
