This project was constructed on the site of the Old Golden Fleece pub on Elland Road, Churwell, Leeds. We performed the role of principle contractor on a design and build basis, constructing a 380 m2 floor area retail development.

 

One the major problems we encountered was the removal of Japanese Knotweed before construction could commence. Burrell Construction provided the foundations, steelwork, brickwork, cladding, floor slab, external works and liaising with statuary service providers. A new entrance to the development was constructed next to private housing. As part of the local council planning conditions was the removal of a mosaic of the Golden Fleece from the original pub and incorporated within an external wall of the new building.

 

The client was extremely impressed with our work. The Store Development Manager of the Tesco Express Team (North) claimed 'This is by far the best Developers shell I have seen, within Tesco Stores Ltd'.
